The Stanford Joint Program in Design

The “PD Program” married technical to creative by allowing art and engineering students to intermingle. Where else could I design and build an innovative RFID navigation system for the blind, a water storage system for the developing world, and develop and present a spine stabilization company to a panel of venture capitalists, all in the same program? At its core is the notion that innovation is a process that can be mastered. From it IDEO, the d.school, and now the “design thinking” movement, have sprung.
