In 2006 the d.school’s founding team sat down to codify the curriculum for the fall quarter “Introduction design thinking,” aka Boot-camp. After hours of distilling everything we had thought, taught, and applied professionally, we arrived at three principles. They are now at the core of every class and workshop. We think of them as the nutrients for process driven, high yield, collaborative design work. During spring quarter I was coaching more than 40 teams how to think this way. It’s powerful. It’s contagious. It works. It’s a recipe for big ideas.
